Instagram is bringing awareness for mental health to the foreground with their latest campaign #HereForYou in support of mental health awareness month. National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) reports that Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.—43.8 million, or 18.5%—experiences mental illness in a given year.
Instagram has already become a safe-haven for people battling mental health. Many Instagram users share their stories giving support to others in need year round. The social media company decided to highlight these accounts in support of Mental Health Awareness month.
Instagrammer Elyse Fox says she started her account to reach out to others, “Through Instagram, I was able to connect with other girls who were going through similar things.” Because of her brave outreach, she was able to overcome her own insecurities and now helps others through their battle.
